Hundreds of people are expected to gather at York Minster today (Thursday, February 13) for the funeral of a York policewoman killed on the A19 after stopping to help at a crash while off-duty. More than 800 of PC Rosie Prior’s relatives, friends and colleagues are due to attend the Minster service. North Yorkshire Police said there will be a representatives from police forces across the UK. PC Prior, 45, and Ryan Welford, 41, from Knaresborough, died after being struck by a passing lorry on the A19 near Bagby on the morning of Saturday, January 11.
